What’s new in Tilt
Changes to the game and the site, newest first. Ideas and bug reports are welcome on the contact page.
Stream mode, and a bigger moment when the scale tips
When the scale tips, a call over it now shows how far off you were, from spot on to 900× too heavy, and the beam lands with a little more weight. For streamers there is a new stream mode at tilt.day/?stream: a 3, 2, 1 before every weighing so chat can lock in, bigger text, and spoiler-free rounds so viewers can still play the daily puzzle themselves.
Real results on the weight pages
The weight pages for our 202 objects now list the past Tilt puzzles each one appeared in, with the answer and how players scored. Most also have a short note on where the figure comes from and how much the real thing varies. We also added a chart of everyday weights, a look at what tens of thousands of guesses say about judging weight, and a page for streamers and creators.
Answers show their working
The results screen now explains how every answer is worked out: the first weight divided by the second, so a 4.5 kg cat over a 180 g apple gives about 25 apples. Weights without a published source are now clearly marked on the weights page.
Two articles about guessing weight
We went through 26,383 guesses to find the questions that fooled almost everyone, and wrote up why weight is so hard to guess along with a simple method that helps.
Fairer scoring for big answers
From Tilt #44, rounds whose answer runs into the thousands are marked more gently. A mega round now still scores until your guess is 25 times off, and anything within 10% is a perfect 100. Picturing 300,000 peanuts is hard; the score now reflects that. The full table is on how to play.
Daily reminder in your calendar
On phones and browsers where notifications are blocked or not supported, the reminder button now adds a short daily alert to your calendar instead, so you do not lose your streak.
How to play, sources and more
New reading pages: a full how to play guide with the scoring table, every weight in the game with its source on the weights page, and pages about Tilt and how to reach us.
More variety, 24 new things to weigh
An object now rests for a week after it appears, so the same things stop coming back. We also added 24 well-known objects, from the Statue of Liberty and a woolly mammoth to a croissant and a Big Mac.
Tilt is live
Tilt opened to everyone at tilt.day: one puzzle a day, five rounds, the same for every player. Round five is the mega round, where the answer runs into the tens of thousands or more. You can play past days from the calendar, keep a streak, and play bonus rounds after the daily puzzle.
